• Nocturne Halifax Festival 2025 Dates: October 16–19, 2025

The Nocturne Art-at-Night Festival is traditionally held every third weekend of October, starting on Thursday night and going through Sunday. This year’s event will be held from October 16th to October 19th, 2025, with the Main Project Showcase on Saturday, October 18th from 6:00 PM to Midnight.

The Nocturne Festival features several festival zones throughout Halifax and downtown Dartmouth. Along with the breathtaking art displays found in public spaces, the festival also features community galleries found in participating venues across the city. Throughout the Nocturne Festival, the streets of Halifax will be illuminated with fabulous art displays from local, national, and international artists. Each display is commissioned or selected for a variety of different projects, including some of the following highlights.

Anchor Projects

Specifically selected by the event’s curator, Anchor Projects are the centrepieces of the Nocturne Festival and establish the annual theme while promoting the talents of the local art community. These are often the largest and most intricate displays of the event and can be found in all festival zones.

This year, curator Marite Kuus has chosen the theme Ground. Selected art displays will explore our relationships to land, place, and material as ways of connecting individuals and communities. Kuus has selected four Anchor Projects to bring this vision to life.

Magnetic World Music Festival 2025: General Information

Founded in 2022, the Magnetic World Music Festival was first held in Moncton before being moved to Halifax the following year. Attracting performers and attendees from around the world, the event quickly established itself as one of the top music festivals in Atlantic Canada.

Cirque du Soleil is one of the most anticipated shows coming to Halifax this summer, promising six performances of its captivating Corteo production over four days. The event marks the first time that the celebrated entertainment group will perform within the Scotiabank Centre, blending powerful acrobatics with modern effects for one of the most enchanting shows of the year.

What is Cirque du Soleil’s Corteo About?

The story of Corteo follows the clown Mauro as he envisions his own funeral. Instead of an atmosphere of mourning, his burial takes place amidst a grand procession with a carnival-like atmosphere that is even attended by angels. Blending the contrasting themes of joy and tragedy, the show brings the audience along on its celebration of life through grand performances that combine the passion of the actor with the power and grace of the acrobat performers.

The play itself was written and directed by Daniele Finzy Pasca and was first performed in Montreal in 2005. The story is written in two acts, with a total of a two-hour run time, including a 20-minute intermission. Since its conception, Corteo has featured 3,500 performances in over 20 countries and has dazzled over 10 million people with grand stunts and enthralling music.

Cirque du Soleil Corteo’s Halifax Performance Schedule

Halifax is one of only two stops in Canada along Corteo’s 2024 tour. It’s scheduled for six different performances over four days, with shows occurring daily between June 6 and June 9. Here is a full schedule for Cirque du Soleil’s Halifax Corteo performances;

Tickets to Corteo's Halifax performances can currently only be purchased online through Ticketmaster. Prices start at $71 per ticket, including taxes and applicable fees. Family and group packages are available at special rates.

VIP Meet & Greet Tickets are also available for the Friday performance. These packages start at $161.50 per ticket, including fees and taxes, and feature premium seating and a private backstage tour after the performances, during which time you can interact and socialize with the artists.

Other Shows Coming to Halifax This Summer

Not able to make it to the city for Cirque du Soleil's performance of Corteo? Don't worry. There is a long lineup of great performances and shows making their way to Halifax this summer, starting with Snoop Dogg appearing at Scotiabank Centre on June 3. The following month sees the city come to life with the anticipated annual Halifax Jazz Festival between July 9 and July 13.
