Halifax Busker Festival 2026: General Information
Every year since 1986, the Halifax Busker Festival has attracted some of the best street performers from around the world for six days of family-fun entertainment featuring hundreds of shows throughout the Halifax and Dartmouth waterfront areas. During the event, the city’s streets come to life with awe-inspiring displays of street music, fire breathing, acrobatics, and magic.
The 2026 festival marks the 40th anniversary of the Halifax Busker Festival, further cementing its place as one of Atlantic Canada’s longest-running and most celebrated outdoor events.
While the street performers are the centre of this exciting annual event, the Busker Festival has grown to include so much more, with carnival rides and novelty vendors found scattered throughout the fairgrounds, promising plenty of fun and entertainment for guests of all ages.

EEvent Dates
The Halifax Busker Festival traditionally runs for six days and is held over Nova Scotia’s Natal Day long weekend. In 2026, the event will be held between July 29 and August 3.
Halifax Busker Festival 2026 Dates: July 29 to August 3, 2026.
Locations
One of the best parts of the Halifax Busker Festival is that amazing street performances can be found all over the Halifax and Dartmouth waterfronts. Meanwhile, scheduled performances can typically be found at stages at the end of Sackville Street, the Halifax Seaport, and Dartmouth’s Alderney Landing.
Alderney Landing typically hosts the midway attractions, while additional entertainment and activities can be found throughout the Seaport area.
A passenger ferry connects the Halifax waterfront to Dartmouth’s Alderney Landing, making it easy to explore both sides of the festival.
Ticket Prices
The festival is entirely free to visit. With that said, tipping the street performers themselves is highly encouraged. Buskers put a lot of hard work and effort into entertaining pedestrians, and it is always nice to give something back when appreciating their artistry.
While the fairgrounds are free to enter, guests do require tickets to enjoy the rides and midway attractions. While ticket prices are still to be announced, they are typically offered in individual, 25, or 50 ticket bundles, while an all-you-can-ride daily bracelet is also available.
Halifax Busker Festival Highlights

The Buskers
The most prevalent highlight of the Halifax Busker Festival is undoubtedly the street performers themselves. Each year, the waterfronts of Halifax and Dartmouth come to life with exciting shows highlighting the specialized talents of international buskers from around the world.
You can expect plenty of impromptu demonstrations to break out along the streets, but the festival also features plenty of scheduled acts along its various stages found throughout the Seaport and Alderney Landing.
While the official 2026 lineup has yet to be announced, guests can expect world-class performances of daring acrobatics, fire breathers, musicians, and magicians. At the end of the festival, guests are often invited to vote for their favourite busker for the People’s Choice Award.
Midway and Fair Attractions
The midway attractions will return as part of the Halifax Busker Festival experience. While the schedule and ticket prices are yet to be announced, guests can expect all the family-fun features that have accompanied the street festival in recent years.
Vendors can be found offering classic carnival foods, while the rides typically include family favourites such as the Zipper, Tilt-a-Whirl, and the Expo Wheel.
International Vendors
